The Lawyer Referral Service is a nonprofit public service sponsored by the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association serving Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth and Chesapeake.

The Lawyer Referral Service lists attorneys that practice in many different areas of law.  If you have a problem which may require the services of a lawyer, call (757) 623-0132.  A specialist will request your name and a brief description of your issue.  Based upon this information, you will be provided the name and number of a lawyer who has experience handling your type of problem.  It will then be your responsibility to call the lawyer and schedule an appointment.  If you do not need a lawyer, you will be directed to an appropriate agency that may be able to help you.  Any information that you provide will be strictly confidential.

If you are referred to a lawyer, you are entitled to consult for up to one-half hour for $35.00.  You should be prepared to pay the lawyer at the time of your appointment.  This initial consultation may answer your questions and enable you to solve your problem.  If your problem requires additional time and work, you will be responsible for any legal fees.  The lawyer you consult will be glad to discuss his or her fees at the time of your consultation.  However, there is no obligation for either you or the lawyer to go beyond the half-hour consultation.
